Rich is a recent graduate from the University of Michigan where he received his master's degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Management of Human Services. Before moving to Michigan he obtained his bachelor's degree from UC Davis as a Psychology major. He was fortunate to work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the UC Davis Guardian Scholars Program where he developed programs focused on building strong mentoring relationships and strengthened his call to serve former and current foster youth.
Prior to pursuing his degree, Rich spent over ten years in the non-profit sector as a Community Organizer focusing his work on building social supports for youth and doing practical hands on work of meeting the needs of homeless populations in his native Northern California community as well as internationally. Rich finds CYC's ability to take foster care identity and make it a point of both empowerment and strength an inspiration. It is this quality, coupled with making tangible change, that attracted him to partner with CYC as a Regional Coordinator.
