Kristina is the Statewide Policy Coordinator at California Youth Connection (CYC), with lived experience in the Child Welfare System. She is responsible for supporting and uplifting the policy goals and vision of the membership through policy, practice, and legislative change.
Kristina’s involvement in CYC started in 2015 when she joined the Butte chapter. She then pursued statewide advocacy through multiple committees such as Youth Training Project, Youth Participatory Action Research committee, Policy and Legislative Committee, and Conference facilitation. Kristina’s passion for advocacy, youth leadership, and legislative and policy practices grew after working on AB 1984. Kristina was able to partner with California Youth Connections membership and the Youth Law Center in publishing research and running legislation in regards to access to extracurricular activities. Kristina has been an essential part in implementing the importance for extra curriculars at a statewide and local level.
Kristina is eager to further her skills within policy change at a local and statewide level. She looks forward to networking with the membership and community stakeholders to push the organization’s priorities. In her spare time Kristina loves to spend time with her dogs. She enjoys playing basketball and hiking with her dogs.
