Kate Burch

As CYC’s Director of Finance, Kate oversees the organization’s financial health with a strong focus on long-term sustainability and growth. She is dedicated to ensuring transparency and accountability for funders while equipping staff and members with the information and support they need to transform the experiences of youth in the foster care system.

With over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, Kate thrives on the details that drive systemic change. Her diverse career journey includes roles as a data analyst, community organizer, policy advocate, and science teacher, ultimately leading her to specialize in nonprofit finance and operations. Kate also brings an understanding of the child welfare system shaped by her experiences as a resource/foster parent, an adoptive parent navigating post-adoption support, and a foster-to-adopt parent.

Living in Sacramento with her wife, three kids still at home, four dogs, and two cats, Kate fills most of her non-work hours with family activities. When she finds a moment to herself, she enjoys reading, playing games, and sewing. Kate earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Oberlin College and her Master’s in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley.
