Julissa Castillo


As CYC’s Chief Development Officer, Julissa is responsible for strategizing and
coordinating efforts to reach both the financial and organizational growth objective
while ensuring the financial stability of CYC. At her discretion and independent
judgement, she leads the development team and daily operations while working in
collaboration with members, staff, volunteers, Board members and youth leaders
across the state to build and lead multi-year development plans. Julissa works to
meet CYC’s fundraising goals, while building new donor pipelines, motivating, and
leading staff across the organization to engage in fundraising efforts, increase
capacity, and contributes to the growth strategic goals of the organization.
Julissa has over 20 years of professional experience working in the Child Welfare
Industry. She as a long history of working in the Foster Care sector as a placement
provider throughout the surrounding counties of Southern California. Her
extensive experience in contract work, leading teams, managing budgets, and
quality assurance, while mentoring professionals is what she thrives on. Julissa also
served in the United States Army as a Finance Officer for ten years. She enjoys
teaching at the college and university level and has taught for the Foster Kinship
Education Program for more than 15 years.
For fun, Julissa enjoys attending events such as concerts and sporting events. Her
parents, her children and life partner keep her motivated to continuously grow as
an individual and is constantly seeking new adventures such as most recently
becoming a Soroptimist.
