
Darryn Green is a training consultant and coach living in San Francisco, California. He has over 20 years experience working with organizations that empower folks to improve the systems they are impacted by. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Counseling from San Francisco State University.
Darryn has lived experience in child welfare and has been working in collaboration with professionals in the nonprofit and child welfare system for over half of his life as an advocate, educator/trainer and mentor. As a young person in care, he joined a youth empowerment organization known as the California Youth Connection where he developed public speaking, facilitation and community organizing skills that have served him throughout his career.
n 2008, Darryn joined the Bay Area Academy co-coordinating advanced training with the San Francisco Training Project, while also co-facilitating the induction training series for new Foster/Adoptive parents for San Francisco Human Service Agency, before leaving the organization in 2012 to become an independent training consultant. He now serves as a trainer, curriculum developer and coach for the academy. He teaches courses on Child and Family Team Meeting Facilitation, Art of Coaching in Child Welfare, Equity and Inclusion Fellowship and more!
He is a certified master trainer with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s All Children—All Families national training program helping child welfare agencies promote more LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and affirming practices. He is also a certified Trauma 101 trainer and coach working with East Bay agency for Children’s Trauma Transformed (T2) program.
In 2021, Darryn joined UC Davis as an instructor for the Continuing & Professional Education: Human Services department and has been providing training, consultation and coaching services to Alameda’s training and consultation team (TACT) and many others, to help integrate equity and inclusion values and practices into their work. He also teaches courses on Crisis Intervention & De-Escalation, Understanding Sexual Orientation Gender Identity & Expression (SOGIE) and Understanding Race and Racism.
A systems thinker with a deep commitment to collaboration and empowerment, Darryn enjoys working with clients and colleagues to explore and develop ways to improve the world around them beginning with the self and extending out into the networks, organizations and communities they are a part of.
